Getting Started With Zentangle®

A great way to get started with basic tools without having to purchase everything seperately.
This book contains over 600 examples of "Reticula and Fragments" drawn by Certified Zentangle Teachers (CZTs) from around the world .
One of the only Official Zentangle Sets offered by Sakura. This is a good beginners kit for those that do not want the bigger set with the Primer book.

You will want a good pencil for shading all of your masterpieces. This pencil is an excellent cost-friendly pencil that's extra soft, with extra black graphite that doesn't leave a shiny finish like most.regular graphite pencils. This is a favorite pencil.
I could not find a smaller pack. Nevertheless, I go through a lot, so you may want the whole box. You could also split them with a tangle friend.

The Markus Operandus is available as a free download on the Zentangle.com website. This is a special tool that all tanglers should keep with their supplies. You will use it often. Please note: if it prints out too large, go into your printer settings and be sure it is set to print "full size" or "100%" - or whatever your printer says.

If you are going to teach online, I recommend this document camera. It's very user friendly. You just plug it into your computer or laptop. You "could" use it with the Visualizer software, but honestly, I prefer not to.
What I like about this stencil is it lists the circle sizes in inches, as well as MM. Many of the other stencil brands don't display the sizes in inches.
Have you tried these tiles? I absolutely love this paper...even better than the Tiepolo! But it's pricey...and I hoard it instead of using it. It comes in several sizes. Try it. You'll thank me later.
This is a very black pencil...just know that it is will not erase totally away.

Blackwing Matte pencils are soft and dark - and they are pricey. Unfortunately, I didn't see any listings on Amazon where you can buy just one. I've listed the box of 12 so you know what they look like. Maybe you want a bunch! Tired of getting graphite or pastel, etc. all over everything in your pencil case when you are traveling with or storing pencils of any sort? Then these are for you! Suitable for "most" pencils. There are some thicker and thinner than normal pencils that won't work.
My personal favorite WAX-based colored pencils. Prismas have robust leads that resist cracking and chipping, and have a creamy core suitable for layering, blending, and shading.
An alternative to the Prismacolor pencils, some people prefer Polychromos. They have a buttery smooth color laydown with OIL-based leads that can be easily blended for layered effects.
My favorite (so far) watercolor pencils.
If you love the basic set, you'll want the rest of the colors!
My very favorite pastel pencils to use with Zentangle art. They are harder than other brands and are great for shading. They coordinate weil with the colored Microns and are "mostly" erasable.
My second favorite pastel pencil. A favorite of many tanglers - more colors and softer than General's. Not as erasable, but also work well.
You need this. Trust me. And yes, you need three so you don't run out!
I love love love these to use for adding background color to Zentangle tiles. The colors are so vivid and beautiful. A favorite of many tanglers!
You will need this for the drum workshop. They are available individually for $4.25, but I have listed the pack of 2 because they are more cost effective - and it's always good to have an extra one.
This is the only listing I could find for the Brown. It's way too expensive here, but it's an item I recommend having.
